purpose
The Indigenous Skills & Employment Training (ISET) program is designed to help Indigenous Peoples prepare for, and find quality high-demand jobs and careers.
who is eligible
The program is funded through Employment and Social Development Canada and NWIC support is overseen by the Congress of Aboriginal Peoples ISET Program. The program is focused on serving non-Status Indigenous peoples, Métis, and Southern Inuit, living off reserve in urban, rural and remote areas throughout British Columbia. Priority is given to non-Status Indigenous youth, single parents, persons with disabilities, women, and mature workers experiencing career change or transition.
Through the program NWIC can fund individuals pursuing:
- College Diploma
- Industry/Institution Certification
- Trade Apprenticeship
- Final Year of an Undergraduate University Program
Funding can support expenses such as:
- Instructional supplies/equipment
- Tuition
- Workshop or Special Courses
- Textbooks (including software)
- Transportation
- Childcare
- Elder & Cultural Support
Please note that Masters or PhD level studies and programs that are not delivered by a provincially accredited institution are not eligible for the ISET Program.
